Happy New Year everyone! I am thrilled to begin this Sweet ’16 and wish you all best!
Updates are very exciting as we begin the New Year: I have just completed the book and co-written the lyrics for a new Broadway bound musical, “SING!”. I have partnered on this project with legendary songwriter Franne Golde (100 million records sold worldwide with cuts from Diana Ross to Whitney Houston et al), from an idea by legendary producer Steve Binder. Our composers, in addition to Franne and I are… Brenda Russell and Stephen Bray (The Color Purple currently on Broadway), Marsha Malamet (Streisand cuts et al), Columbia Records artist Ari Hest, Richard Kerr ( “I Know I’ll Never Love This Way Again” ) Nashville’s Lindsey Rey, Broadway’s Ilene Kristen, and Cameron James Brier (Universal Music Group). An L.A. workshop will be held in March with an out of town tryout to follow prior to a Broadway run next season.
On January 7th, I will announce the dates fort new L.A and NYC Workshops and the dates for weekend intensives all over the country to follow by month’s end. The new nationwide workshops will be entitled “SONG and DANCE” with multiple vocal coaches and choreographers from both coasts will appear with special Broadway guests from casting directors to Broadway creators throughout 2016.
Lastly, I couldn’t be more excited about the live television Broadway production of “GREASE” starring my long time student and friend, Vanessa Hudgens. Having performed the show on Broadway as Teen Angel for two years, this production brings me full circle. Stay tuned!
My NYC Musical Theatre Workshop and VOICE GYM is around the corner and it promises to be an amazing event! The dates are Tuesday, November 10th and Thursday Nov 12th.
In two sessions, all participants will have a new audition book and we will cover many other issues including risk taking with your new audition material and how your material reflects how you are castable and how all your decisions are to be made based on your image and essence.

Two of my favorite all-time students have just opened on Broadway in “GIGI” and “BEAUTIFUL” respectively,
Vanessa Hudgens is getting raves in “GIGI” (i.e. Variety: “Vanessa Hudgens (“High School Musical”) has the clarion voice and aggressive delivery of an unabashed Broadway belter,” Star Ledger:”Hudgens, whose entrance prompted a tidal wave of high-pitched screams and applause, deserves credit for pulling off a role that must nearly carry the show. In this version, Gigi is not only the focus, but also an ideal. She speaks out for women’s rights and points out ridiculous aspects of society. Yet there’s nothing didactic about her – Gigi is still prone to silliness and in no way above enjoying a gossip column or two. Hudgens gives a generous performance as she transitions from an irrepressible tomboy to an elegant woman in love. She sings extraordinarily well and impressively keeps pace with the show’s dancers. Her bright, poppy voice moves smoothly through the fizzy classic “The Night They Invented Champagne” and sweetly through the heartfelt ballad “The Letter.”)
Jessica Keenan Wynn, who has been studying with me since age 15, is now making her Broadway debut as Cynthia Weil in the Carole King musical -= “Beautiful”
Brava to both of my girls!!
