What a great way too start 2018… working on the soundtrack album for the feature film remake, of VALLEY GIRL, (now a musical), coaching the inimitable Joshua Whitehouse. This is such a wonderful film, with Josh great in it, directed by Rachel Goldenberg and Musically Supervised by the great Harvey Mason, Jr.

After a fantastic summer of vocal coaching on Rachel Goldenberg’s feature remake of VALLEY GIRL, now a musical, I’m excited to soon be working on the soundtrack album with Harvey Mason, Jr. and the film’s star JOSHUA WHITEHOUSE… who is destined to become a household name. Josh is fantastic in this film!
I’m also enjoying vocal coaching clients for the film IN THE HEIGHTS! One of my clients, who shall remain nameless at the moment, has what I think is a very good shot at starring in this film.
I’m excited to be directing Marilu Henner’s New Show opening a the Catalina Bar and Grill on October 6th and 7th! The show is a blast with the amazing Mike Farrell musical directing. Hope to see you!

Two of my all-time favorite students/friends/people have just scored big and small screen leads:
Jessica Keenan Wynn, who I have worked with since she was fifteen years old, is following her Broadway Triumph as Cynthia Weil in ” BEAUTIFUL: The Carole King Musical” with one of the leads in the big screen “MAMA MIA: HERE WE GO AGAIN.” Jess will be playing Tanya, the young version of the Christine Baranski role. From Broadway star to film star, I couldn’t be more excited for dear Jessica!
And, after an extensive search, with a number of actresses testing, Jasmine Savoy Brown landed the much sought after second lead in the upcoming ABC drama series “FOR THE PEOPLE”, from Shonda Rhimes… sure to be another smash from SHONDALAND.
GREAT congrats to Jess and Jas ! Both so deserving and so rewarding to watch them shine!
In other news, I’ll soon announce news on our new musical, “LIMELIGHT”. Very exciting!
And, by popular demand, I will also be adding a second VOICE GYM. Dates to be announced after LABOR DAY.
Its been the best summer… working with the irresistible Elle Fanning on “TEEN SPIRIT,” the great Joshua Whitehouse on “VALLEY GIRL”, and the legendary Jane Fonda on “THE BOOK CLUB”: Three new clients and friends… All memorable experiences that promise to make for great film entertainment.
I had a great trip to Chicago to meet with great director Marc Bruni (“Beautiful” -The Carole King Musical) and choreographer Josh Prince on our new musical “LIMELIGHT”. Great congrats to them both on their wonderful new musical, “TREVOR”.
My new Monday night VOICE GYM is sold out.. and I will be adding a new Thursday night VOICE GYM after the Labor Day holiday.. Stay tuned for exact dates.
For now, I’m off to Hawaii for an exciting vacation.

Jessica Lange and Judy Davis for FEUD, Judith Light for TRANSPARENT, Chrissy Metz for THIS IS US and Jane Fonda for GRACE and FRANKIE! All actresses so deserving to be honored for their exquisite work!

Lastly, I had such a blast working on VALLEY GIRL with the great Joshua Whitehouse et al. It was such a pleasure working with director Rachel Goldenberg, musical director Harvey Mason, Jr and producers Steven Wolfe and Matt Smith. No doubt this will be a wildly successful feature next Summer! Bravo to all!
This has been a thrilling and rewarding time, working on three new films with three gifted, smart and delightful actors: Elle Fanning (“Teen Spirit”), Joshua Whitehouse (“Valley Girl, the Musical”, and the legendary, Jane Fonda (“the Book Club”) .
These are very special projects with very special actors and our work together has been among my favorite relationships and working experiences ever!
In addition, I am teaching a Musical Essence Class at the LA Songwriting School and finishing up the Spring Voice Gym.
As I continue work on the films, I am completing a new draft of “SING!” , the musical I’ve been writing with Franne Golde based on an idea by Steve Binder. Other composers include Brenda Russell, Stephen Bray, Marsha Malamet, Ari Hest, Lindsay Ray, Richard Kerr et al. We are planning a Fall workshop in Los Angeles followed by two out of town tryouts and then Broadway. This is a dream project and working on it with these composers has been magical. Stay tuned.
